About Nuit Blanche Saskatoon
Nuit Blanche Saskatoon is a free night-time contemporary arts festival featuring projections, sculptural installations, performance, music, theatre, and other contemporary art forms that wow festival-goers late into the evening. Our annual festival showcases local, national and international contemporary art, bringing together artists, businesses, and the community to celebrate the richness of artistic expression. The two day festival takes place at the end of September and collaborates with the City of Saskatoon, community partners and Saskatoon’s core neighbourhoods.
Position Overview
Nuit Blanche Saskatoon is excited to hire for the position of Festival Curator Assistant, providing a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of contemporary art and event coordination. Join our dynamic team and contribute to the success of our annual Nuit Blanche festival, transforming the heart of Saskatoon into a celebration of creativity and culture. We are hiring one assistant curator that will be overseen by both the main Festival Curator and the Board of Directors.
As a Festival Curator Assistant, you will work closely under our Lead Curator and Board of Directors, contributing to some artist selection, logistical planning, administrative tasks and event execution. This role offers hands-on experience in the arts and events industry.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assisting the lead Curator with the vision, development and curation of the Festival including contracted artists, projects supported by annual grants, and other projects as assigned.
Attending monthly board meetings, and other committee meetings as required.
Contributing to the Curator’s Report for board meetings when necessary.
Attending meetings with selected artists, and organizing notes and details to be shared with committees.
Data entry and management in Notion for all committees to access artist bios, location and additional information as needed.
Skills and Requirements
A Background in Fine Arts, Art History, Cultural Studies, or a related field (or a strong interest in contemporary art).
Proficiency in Notion would be an asset.
Strong communication and writing skills.
Experience in curation, event planning or coordination is an asset.
Knowledge of the local arts community and organizations in Saskatoon would be an asset.
